Menlo Park, CA - May 2, 2003 - OpenSource, Inc., a provider of contract analysis and management software to law firms and legal departments, today announced the release of OpenSourceCM 3.0. This version is integration-ready for use in large organizations and includes enhancements to the OCR and full-text search capabilities.
OpenSourceCM allows legal organizations to consolidate contracts from a variety of file formats, including paper images, pdf, Word Perfect and MS-Word files, into one knowledgebase. It enables search and tracking of language across documents, including display of provisions across multiple contracts and automatic creation of hyperlinks between original and amended language. In addition, it can notify users regarding contract events, such as renewal and expiration dates.
The latest version of OpenSourceCM includes:
API for integration that enables fast deployment and seamless cross-domain user authentication at large organizations.
The first version of the OpenSourceCM API allows synchronization of users and group memberships between OpenSourceCM and other enterprise applications, such as PeopleSoft HR, and automatic creation of content organization trees based on group memberships. It also enables single login to a hosted OpenSource application from an organization's network, Intranet, or other systems.
With the newly introduced integration capabilities, OpenSourceCM is ready for implementation as an integral part of any legal KM effort.
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) filters that enhance the performance of the automatic OCR component beyond any commercially available OCR product.
OpenSourceCM is the only contract management application that supports legacy content and does not require users to create their documents in the system, or profile them to enable search. This is made possible by OpenSource's patent pending Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology.
The OCR component is part of a conversion mechanism that makes contracts in diverse file format available to the NLP engine. The OCR filters created by OpenSource correct standard OCR issues such as page size and positioning, document structure and word recognition, improving the overall performance of the system.
Faster and more flexible search that allows users to find language across contracts in a matter of seconds.
OpenSourceCM is the only contract management application that displays keywords, phrases, word sequences, concepts and term definitions in context across multiple heterogeneous contracts.
OpenSourceCM 3.0 also introduces enhanced search for documents. It allows users to create a "Term Sheet" of the most important for them contract characteristics, and search for documents that have any combination of such attributes.
Ofer Tal, VP Engineering, commented, "The legal market is content-analysis driven and very short on time. Building a system that satisfies its analysis and speed needs is not as easy as configuring a workflow engine on top of a database. With OpenSourceCM 3.0 we take some very process-intensive tasks to a new performance level and enable fast enterprise-level deployment."
